For schools & district SPED departments

Secure family communication your special education department can stand behind

Start with one classroom. Grow to a whole department, with the access controls, records and agreements your district requires.

Available today

Role-based access

Case managers, providers, general education teachers, paras and admins each see only what their role and each student’s team allow.

Record of access

An append-only audit log of who viewed or changed protected student records, as IDEA requires.

Required two-step verification

Staff accounts require an authenticator app by default.

Language access

Automatic translation helps meet Title VI obligations to communicate with families in a language they understand.

Retention controls

Set how long messages are kept. IEP drafts expire automatically, and families can request exports and deletion.

Built for SPED teams

Student teams, custody restrictions, consent-aware photo sharing and protected IEP messages work out of the box.

On the roadmap for district rollouts

We’re building these with our first district partners. Ask us where each one stands.

  • Single sign-on with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365 and SAML
  • Rostering through Clever, ClassLink and OneRoster
  • District admin console with audit-log search and exports
  • Independent SOC 2 Type II audit and third-party penetration test

Data privacy agreements

We know every district has its own approval process. We’re happy to work through your vetting questionnaire and the Student Data Privacy Consortium National Data Privacy Agreement (NDPA) or your state’s equivalent before any student information goes into Harbor.
